Dan began his professional life as an Architect, spending the first 15 years of his career working in more traditional architectural roles in the United States and the Middle East. During this time, he developed a passion for sustainability, eventually specializing in green building design and construction and sustainable urban development.
As his career progressed, his focus gradually expanded from single buildings to large scale projects. Then in 2009 he turned his focus to mega programs, joining Jacobs (then CH2M) as the Lead Architect on the program management team working on the Masdar City Program. From there, he went on to work in key sustainability leadership roles on the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ Program in Qatar and other projects in the Middle East and Asia before transitioning to his current role as Director of Sustainability & Innovation on the Expo 2020 Dubai Program. In this role he was initially focused on sustainability and innovation management in the delivery of the infrastructure and buildings at the Expo site, but the role evolved over time to encompass a wide range of sustainability initiatives, including carbon management, event time content and programming, and special projects and initiatives.
“I have worked with Daniel for almost four years. His passion for sustainability and his drive was contagious. His technical skills, leadership style and stakeholder engagement capabilities, helped drive a successful sustainability program at Expo 2020. ”
In addition to his project work, Dan is our Senior Director, Global Sustainability & Climate Response. In this role, he’s working with the leadership of our Global Major Programs team to integrate sustainability into our program management business to ensure that we are capturing best practice from our programs around the globe, sharing knowledge, and developing our skills and capacity for climate action and sustainability in our program teams.
Dan is a Registered Architect (U.S.), Member of American Institute of Architects (AIA), LEED Accredited Professional for Building Design & Construction (LEED AP BD+C), LEED Accredited Professional for Neighborhood Development (LEED AP ND), and WELL Accredited Professional (WELL AP).
